Households across India will have to pay more for cooking gas as oil marketing companies have increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 29, effective June 7, 2026. This marks the second hike in domestic LPG prices within the last three months.
Following the latest revision, the price of a standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen from Rs 913 to Rs 942. The increase comes amid continued pressure on oil marketing companies due to rising global energy prices and higher import costs.
Earlier, on March 7, domestic LPG prices were increased by Rs 60 per cylinder after geopolitical tensions in West Asia pushed international fuel prices higher. Industry sources indicate that despite previous revisions, oil companies were still incurring significant losses on the sale of subsidised domestic LPG cylinders.
Reports suggest that before the latest hike, state-owned fuel retailers were losing approximately Rs 703 on every domestic LPG cylinder sold. Even after the increase, companies continue to face challenges due to volatile crude oil prices and elevated global energy costs.
New LPG Price in Delhi
- Previous Price: Rs 913 per 14.2-kg cylinder
- Price Increase: Rs 29
- New Price: Rs 942 per 14.2-kg cylinder
The hike is part of a broader trend of rising fuel costs in the country. Over recent weeks, petrol and diesel prices have also witnessed increases, while compressed natural gas (CNG) rates have moved higher in several cities.
The government has so far avoided passing the full burden of international energy price increases onto consumers. However, continued fluctuations in global oil markets and geopolitical uncertainties remain key factors influencing domestic fuel pricing.
For consumers, the latest revision means a higher monthly household budget, particularly for families that rely heavily on LPG for daily cooking needs.
