Dhoni's Glorious Reunion: Poses with Cricket World Cup Trophy in Mumbai

In a nostalgic moment that brought back memories of India’s historic World Cup victory in 2011, the legendary MS Dhoni posed with the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters in Mumbai.

Dhoni’s iconic six at the Wankhede Stadium on April 2, 2011, remains etched in the hearts of millions of Indians, marking one of the greatest moments in Indian cricket history. With this triumph, Dhoni led India to victory after 28 years, securing the Cricket World Cup.

His captaincy prowess extends beyond the 2011 World Cup, as he is the only skipper to clinch all major ICC trophies, including the ICC T20 World Cup 2007 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Additionally, Dhoni led India to the number-one ranking in Test cricket in 2009.

The BCCI tweeted, “MS Dhoni World Cup Trophy Made for each other BCCI HQ | @msdhoni| #TeamIndia,” capturing the sentiment of fans across the nation.

Reflecting on the historic final, Sri Lanka posted a formidable total of 274/6, with Mahela Jayawardene’s unbeaten century leading the charge. However, India’s stellar batting lineup, featuring Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, and Yuvraj Singh, secured a memorable six-wicket win.

Dhoni’s legacy extends beyond international cricket, as he has led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to numerous IPL and Champions League T20 titles. In what could potentially be his last IPL season, Dhoni has passed the captaincy baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad, leading CSK to a commendable third place in the current standings.

With an illustrious career boasting 17,266 international runs, Dhoni’s contribution to Indian cricket is unparalleled, solidifying his status as one of the greatest batters of all time.
