Akshay Kumar’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla continues its steady run as it enters its third week in theatres. Despite a surge of new releases impacting its daily footfall, the film has maintained a resilient hold at the box office.

As of Day 20, the film has officially surpassed the ₹230 crore mark globally, proving the enduring appeal of the iconic Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan collaboration, reunited after 16 years.

Domestic Performance and Daily Trends

On Wednesday, May 6, the film managed to collect ₹1.75 crore across over 4,500 shows. This brings the total India net collection to ₹148.25 crore, while the gross domestic total stands at ₹175.93 crore. After a massive opening week of ₹84.40 crore, the film saw a predictable decline but has remained consistent in the single-digit range throughout its third week. The film’s ability to draw audiences despite heavy competition from Riteish Deshmukh’s historical epic Raja Shivaji underscores the popularity of the horror-comedy genre.

Global Tally and Strategic Success

Internationally, Bhooth Bangla has been a significant success for the Khiladi. The movie crossed the ₹100 crore worldwide milestone in just four days and has now pushed its total overseas gross to ₹56.85 crore. The cumulative worldwide gross currently sits at ₹232.78 crore, with trade analysts predicting it will comfortably hit the ₹235 crore mark by the end of the week.

A Star-Studded Reunion

The film’s success is largely attributed to the nostalgia of the Priyadarshan-Akshay duo, who previously gave hits like Hera Pheri and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The supernatural drama features a powerhouse ensemble including Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, and Mithila Palkar. Released on April 17, 2025, the film’s “low but steady” trajectory suggests it will continue to find an audience until the next major blockbusters arrive.
