The high-stakes standoff between Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh and powerhouse producers Excel Entertainment has reached a critical tipping point.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has officially confirmed it will break its silence and announce its final stance regarding Ranveer Singh’s abrupt exit from Don 3. The regulatory body’s intervention follows an aggressive, formal complaint lodged by the film’s director, Farhan Akhtar. Industry insiders reveal that a highly anticipated press conference has been scheduled for Monday evening at 4:00 PM IST, where the film body will dictate terms that could permanently reshape the future of the iconic action franchise.

According to an official press release issued by the apex federation, Farhan Akhtar navigated the complaint through the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA), of which he is a long-standing member.

The dispute has effectively halted the massive tentpole production, sending shockwaves through trade circles. Excel Entertainment, spearheaded by Akhtar and his producing partner Ritesh Sidhwani, is reportedly seeking a staggering ₹40 crore in financial compensation from Ranveer, alleging that the actor’s last-minute departure caused monumental financial damage after two full years of script development, location scouting, and expensive pre-production modeling based entirely on his contract.

FWICE Official Statement: “The federation has thoroughly examined the complaint and the surrounding circumstances. During the press conference on Monday, FWICE will officially address the matter and communicate its stand and decision after evaluating the grievance and the related industry protocols.”

The Root of the Fallout: Script Disputes and “Dhurandhar” Success

The underlying friction behind Bollywood’s most talked-about legal battle traces its roots back to late 2025. Ranveer Singh was aggressively unveiled to the public as the brand-new face of the franchise, stepping into the legendary shoes previously worn by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. However, the corporate relationship disintegrated entirely in December 2025 when Ranveer unexpectedly walked away from the multi-film deal.

Sources close to the actor maintain that dramatic, late-stage script alterations and disagreements over the character’s linguistic styling made him uncomfortable moving forward. Conversely, trade analysts note the timing of Ranveer’s exit was highly strategic, occurring immediately after the historic, record-breaking box office success of his action thriller Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar.

Excel Entertainment alleges that the actor repeatedly engineered scheduling roadblocks and timeline delays to prioritize other projects before completely abandoning the film, leaving the casting of female lead Kiara Advani completely in limbo.

Farhan Akhtar Speaks Out on Industry Exhaustion

While Ranveer Singh and his public relations team have maintained absolute silence throughout the months-long dispute, Farhan Akhtar recently offered a candid, vulnerable glimpse into his frustrations. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, the filmmaker confessed that dealing with volatile corporate relationships in modern cinema has begun to take an emotional toll on his creative drive.

“What I’ve learnt is expect the unexpected. You can’t take anything for granted until it’s on film,” Akhtar admitted when pressed about the Don 3 casting crisis. “You realize at some point, there’ll be a period that would come that would be a bit challenging. You’ve had it good. It’s okay, just take it in your stride.”

The multi-hyphenate creator even joked about stepping away from the director’s chair entirely to escape the legal crossfire. “Sometimes, when roadblocks happen, I feel I should just go back to acting. I wouldn’t have to deal with all this stuff,” he confessed. As the industry awaits the FWICE ruling, the fate of the franchise which spans back to Salim-Javed’s landmark 1978 original film hangs entirely in the balance, leaving fans wondering if the third installment will be recast or permanently shelved.
