"I was struggling a bit for rhythm": RR's Buttler

After securing a nail-biting victory for Rajasthan Royals (RR) with a spectacular century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Jos Buttler reflected on his performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match.

Jos Buttler, who scored 107 not out off 60 deliveries, acknowledged that he found it challenging to settle into a rhythm throughout his innings.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Buttler expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, likening his approach to cricket icons MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. “Today was about belief. I was not in perfect rhythm, but it’s about staying positive and continuing to battle through the tough phases. You look at legends like Dhoni and Kohli; they own those crunch moments by staying till the end, and that’s what I aimed to emulate,” Buttler explained.

The win was particularly sweet for Buttler, who played a crucial role in turning the tide in RR’s favor. “It’s extremely satisfying to pull through for the team when it counts. Kumar Sangakkara has often advised me on the importance of persistence. He says there’s always a tipping point, and the worst mistake is to stop fighting. Maintaining my wicket and waiting for the momentum to shift has become integral to my strategy,” he added.

Buttler’s innings, which propelled RR to a two-wicket victory, was marked by a strike rate of 178.33 and included a mix of calculated aggression and strategic finesse, showcasing why he is considered one of the IPL’s most formidable batsmen.
