Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India]: A former Deputy Collector Nisha Bangre, whose resignation was accepted recently, has said that she will definitely contest the forthcoming state assembly elections.
The state government accepted the resignation of Bangre, who was posted as Dy Collector in Chhatarpur district, on Monday (October 23). She resigned from her post on June 22 this year citing that she did not get permission to attend the inauguration of her newly constructed house from the state government.
After the state government accepted her resignation, Bangre on Wednesday told ANI, “I will definitely contest the election. I want to be a part of democracy – becoming an MLA is a part of it. I will definitely file my nomination.”
When questioned about political motive behind her resignation from the civil service Bangre said she has already specified her reasons to leaving.
“I had already explained in detail that at the time of my resignation that I was not granted permission to participate in the inauguration of my house. After that when I found out in these two-three months, I came to know that all this is happening due to political action. I always want a good system to be maintained in this country. The systems are made by the officers and our public representatives,” she said,
The former officer further added, “After being an officer, I saw that if the political intent is good then officers can also do good work. So, I decided that now I will become an MLA and we will fight against what has happened to me so that such injustice does not happen to anyone else. So all this has happened gradually and today I am ready to contest the elections.”
Meanwhile, when asked about whether she had spoken with any party for a ticket, Bangre said that Congress was standing with her during her struggle and they had assured her that they would wait for her resignation. Therefore, she would meet state Congress chief Kamal Nath and ask him about his stand.
“When my struggle was going on, Congress spoke about standing with me. When I was arrested, Congress leaders were with me. They had assured me that they would wait for my resignation. So, I would like to meet Kamal Nath today and ask him about his stand as now my resignation has been accepted, today I am free to fight for the people’s right,” She said.
when questioned about the possibility of not being given a ticket Bangre said she would continue to work in public service.
“I will work for the public. If the public says to contest as an independent or to contest with some other party, then I have no problem. As the public says, I will follow their order,” she added.
Madhya Pradesh will undergo assembly polls on November 17 and the counting will take place on December 3. Through the polls, the state will elect legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies.
