IPL Auction 2024: Delhi Capitals snatch up sensational players

IPL Auction 2024: The Delhi Capitals (DC) added some intriguing players to their roster on Tuesday at the IPL Auction 2024 in Dubai. Along with West Indian wicketkeeper-batter Shai Hope for INR 75 lakh and Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson for INR 5 crore, the franchise also secured the hard-hitting Harry Brook for INR 4 crore. Kumar Kushagra, an uncapped Indian wicketkeeper-batter, was also acquired by the Delhi Capitals for INR 7.2 crore. We made all the necessary fill-ins, and we performed admirably at the auction table, in my opinion. Working with Harry Brook excites me. He is currently one of the most gifted international cricket players.

When asked about the Delhi Capitals roster for the 2024 Indian Premier League, head coach Ricky Ponting responded, “He was our number one priority in this year’s Auction and we managed to acquire him at a great figure,” as quoted in a DC release. “I am excited about Shai Hope,” stated Sourav Ganguly, DC Director of Cricket. In 50 overs of cricket, he has an incredible record and is a good spin player. And with Jhye Richardson leading the attack, our bowling department is looking good.” Tristan Stubbs, a South African wicketkeeper-batter, was acquired by the Delhi Capitals for INR 50 lakh. With a strike percentage of 147.23, the 23-year-old has scored 1119 runs in 59 T20 matches.

Ricky Bhui, a skilled batter and wicketkeeper, was selected for INR 20 lakh. At an average of 32.54, he has amassed 1497 runs in 62 T20 matches. Kumar Kushagra, a wicketkeeper-batter, was acquired by the Delhi Capitals for INR 7.2 crore following a heated bidding war with the Gujarat Titans. In 11 T20s, he has made eight catches and one stumping. Assistant Coach Pravin Amre said of Kushagra, “Young people have always been given a platform by the Delhi Capitals.” Before they began playing T20 cricket, we supported players like Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, and Rishabh Pant. Additionally, we have chosen to support Kumar as a player in the hopes that he will perform well for us.”

Rasikh Dar, a medium-fast bowler, was signed for INR 20 lakh in the interim. Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson, who has taken 112 wickets in 85 T20s at an average of 21.58, was selected for INR 5 crore. He has taken 15 wickets in 15 T20s at an average of 27.66. After a fierce bidding battle with the Kolkata Knight Riders, INR 1 crore was paid to acquire the Indian all-rounder Sumit Kumar. In 45 Twenty20 matches, he has amassed 574 runs and claimed 43 wickets. Shai Hope, a West Indian batsman and wicketkeeper, was also acquired by the Delhi Capitals for INR 75 lakh. In 91 T20s, he has amassed 2132 runs, 40 catches, and 8 stumpings.

Swastik Chikara, the opening batsman, was acquired for INR 20 lakh in the meantime. 200 runs have been scored by him in six List A games.
