Investigators review CCTV footage, financial records and employee statements as the Ayodhya donation management inquiry gathers pace.
June 19, 2026: A major investigation is underway in Ayodhya as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) continues questioning individuals linked to the Ram Temple Trust over alleged irregularities in donation handling and accounting procedures. Officials said the probe gained momentum after concerns emerged regarding the management of donations during periods of exceptionally high footfall, when contributions from devotees reportedly increased significantly.
According to investigators, the inquiry is examining the entire donation collection and accounting process, including cash offerings, jewellery and other valuables deposited in donation boxes across the temple complex. Authorities are reviewing how donations are transferred to counting rooms, where they are sorted, recorded under CCTV surveillance and later deposited into designated bank accounts. Officials stated that 24 personnel, including trust staff, outsourced workers and bank representatives, are involved in the handling and counting process.
The SIT has so far recorded statements from around 140 individuals, including employees, supervisors and associated personnel. Investigators are cross-checking testimonies, analysing financial records and examining CCTV footage to identify any procedural lapses or inconsistencies. Officials indicated that preliminary findings may be compiled into an initial report in the coming days and submitted to senior state authorities for further review. The investigation remains ongoing.
