June 14, 2026: Tension gripped the Bairagiwala area of Vikasnagar in Dehradun district after a BJP Yuva Morcha leader was allegedly beaten to death during a dispute over irrigation water. According to preliminary reports, the conflict began over the distribution of water to agricultural fields and escalated into a violent clash between two groups. During the confrontation, the victim was reportedly assaulted by several individuals and later succumbed to his injuries. Two other people were also seriously injured and are undergoing treatment in hospital.
The incident triggered widespread anger among local residents and supporters, who gathered in large numbers to protest and demand immediate action against the accused. Demonstrators called for swift arrests and strict punishment for those involved in the killing. The protests led to heightened tension in the area, prompting authorities to step up security measures.
A heavy police deployment, along with Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel, was sent to the village to maintain law and order.
