A Delhi Police constable allegedly shot his wife dead in Kalyanpuri before fleeing

July 13, 2026: A Delhi Police constable allegedly shot his wife dead on a road in the Kalyanpuri area of East Delhi on Sunday evening following a domestic dispute. According to police, the couple was travelling on a scooter when they got into an argument. The constable reportedly stopped the vehicle and opened fire on his wife before fleeing the scene. Passersby rushed the injured woman to a nearby hospital in an autorickshaw, where she later died during treatment.

Police have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding constable and are examining CCTV footage from the area as part of the investigation. Officials said further details will be released after a detailed inquiry, while the motive behind the shooting is being investigated.

In a separate incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura, a man allegedly shot his cousin dead during a family gathering over an alleged illicit relationship. Police arrested the accused, Pawan Chaudhary, at the spot and recovered his licensed pistol. Investigators said the accused claimed he committed the crime because he suspected the deceased of having a relationship with his wife. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case, while Mathura Police also confirmed that another shooting accused in an unrelated case was recently apprehended following a brief encounter.
