Police arrested a former NSG commando in Jodhpur after recovering ₹1.60 crore in cash
July 17, 2026: A former National Security Guard (NSG) commando was arrested in Jodhpur after police seized ₹1.60 crore in cash and 8 kg of opium latex from his residence during a raid conducted in connection with a drug trafficking case. The accused, identified as Ratan Singh, is a resident of Ramzan Ka Hatha in Jodhpur. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Manish Chaudhary, Singh allegedly attempted to flee when the police team arrived but was apprehended after the area was quickly cordoned off.
The late-night raid, which continued until Friday morning, led to the recovery of the cash, opium latex, and a car from the premises. Police said the operation was part of an ongoing investigation into narcotics trafficking in the region.
Officials revealed that Ratan Singh had previously served in the Assam Rifles before being posted as a commando with the NSG. Investigators are now questioning him to determine the source of the seized opium and the origin of the large amount of cash recovered during the search. Further investigation is underway.
