The India Meteorological Department has warned of another spell of dust storms, thunderstorms

May 31, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather warning for dust storms, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across northwest and central India. Wind speeds may reach up to 90 kmph in some regions, especially Rajasthan, which has already been affected by a severe dust storm a day earlier. States including Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand are likely to experience unstable weather conditions, while hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may witness hailstorms.

According to the forecast, Delhi is expected to face thundersqualls with wind speeds of up to 70 kmph on May 31, while gusty winds of around 50 kmph may continue between June 1 and June 4. Rajasthan is also likely to experience thunderstorm activity with wind speeds reaching 70–80 kmph, along with isolated dust storms. The IMD has further warned that thunderstorms and lightning will continue in several parts of central India, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha.

Heavy rainfall and hailstorms are also likely in regions of Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, and Maharashtra. Authorities have advised people to stay indoors during severe weather conditions, avoid waterlogged areas, and take necessary precautions. Farmers have been urged to protect crops and livestock as the changing weather pattern is expected to continue over the coming days.
