AIAA President Maulana Sajid Rashidi questioned the VHP’s financial transparency and linked the ongoing Ram Temple donation

July 5, 2026: All India Imam Association (AIAA) President Maulana Sajid Rashidi has raised fresh allegations against the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) amid the ongoing investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple. Rashidi claimed the VHP has faced questions over its finances since the Ram Mandir movement and alleged that funds collected during the Rath Yatra were never fully accounted for. He said the organisation has remained under public suspicion for years over financial transparency.

Rashidi also referred to Ram Temple Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, alleging that he was attempting to distance himself from the VHP as the donation controversy unfolds. According to him, any renewed focus on the VHP could revive questions over earlier financial matters, including funds collected during the Ram Mandir campaign. He further claimed that efforts could be made to absolve both the VHP and Champat Rai of any wrongdoing as the investigation progresses.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) continues its probe into the alleged donation embezzlement at the Ram Temple. The Uttar Pradesh government recently granted the SIT a 15-day extension to complete its investigation after an FIR was registered on June 25 based on its preliminary findings. Eight accused have been arrested so far, while Champat Rai and former trustee Anil Mishra resigned, taking moral responsibility following the arrests.
