Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the proposed Khatu Shyam railway station in Rajasthan will be completed

June 22, 2026: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the proposed Khatu Shyam railway station in Rajasthan will be completed within the next 12 months. Speaking at a function after flagging off the Jaipur-Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express from Khatipura station, Vaishnaw said land for the project has already been identified. He also unveiled the design of the upcoming station, which is expected to significantly improve access to the famous pilgrimage destination.

Khatu Shyam Temple is one of Rajasthan’s most visited religious sites, attracting nearly 50 to 60 lakh devotees every year. During the annual Phalguna Mela, footfall alone reaches 30 to 40 lakh pilgrims within just 15 days. The temple, built from white Makrana marble, is dedicated to Barbarika, the grandson of Bhima from the Mahabharata, who is worshipped as a form of Lord Krishna. The nearby Shyam Kund also holds immense religious significance for devotees.

Currently, pilgrims travelling by train must get down at Ringas Junction and continue their journey by road to Khatu Shyam Temple. The new railway station is expected to provide direct and easier access for devotees. On the same occasion, Vaishnaw and Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated the Khatipura Mega Coaching Terminal and flagged off the Jaipur-Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express, further strengthening railway infrastructure in Rajasthan.
