Rajbhar claims Samajwadi Party workers complained about being charged for photographs, handshakes
July 10, 2026: Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar on Thursday levelled serious allegations against Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, claiming that party workers are charged money to meet him, shake hands with him or even get a photograph clicked. In a post on X, Rajbhar said several SP workers had approached him with complaints, alleging they were asked to pay ₹5,000 for a photo, ₹8,000-10,000 for a handshake, while there was no fixed amount for arranging a meeting with the SP chief.
Rajbhar questioned why such alleged collections were being made from loyal party workers, especially those belonging to Akhilesh Yadav’s own community. Referring to reports of Yadav’s growing wealth, he asked why additional money was allegedly being collected from supporters. He also suggested that if Akhilesh was unaware of the alleged practice, he should immediately intervene and stop those responsible.
Calling himself a “friend,” Rajbhar advised Akhilesh Yadav to end what he described as a “rate card” culture within the party. He warned that such practices could alienate party workers and hurt the Samajwadi Party politically in the upcoming elections. Rajbhar claimed the workers themselves had requested him to raise the issue publicly. Akhilesh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party have not yet responded to the allegations.
