Israel has reportedly shared intelligence with the United States alleging a new Iranian plot to assassinate President Donald Trump
July 10, 2026: Israel has reportedly provided the United States with fresh intelligence alleging that Iran recently developed a new plan to assassinate US President Donald Trump. According to reports by The Wall Street Journal and CNN, Israeli officials shared the information with Washington earlier this week, warning of a specific alleged plot. US intelligence agencies have not independently verified the claim and were reportedly not tracking the alleged plan before receiving the Israeli warning. Some American officials believe the intelligence could also be part of Israel’s effort to encourage tougher US military action against Iran.
Speaking to reporters in Ankara, Trump said he was aware of threats against him, claiming he appeared on “every list” of Iranian assassination targets. While the White House declined to comment directly on the reported intelligence, Trump stated that he had recently learned he was at the top of a new list of targets. US officials continue to monitor threats against the president, while diplomatic negotiations between Washington and Tehran over a possible nuclear agreement remain ongoing despite heightened regional tensions.
The reported threat comes amid differences between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over Iran strategy. While Netanyahu has reportedly pushed for continued military operations, Trump is said to favour avoiding a prolonged conflict because of its potential economic impact. The two leaders discussed regional security during a phone call on Thursday. US officials have long warned that Iran may seek revenge for the 2020 drone strike that killed former IRGC Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, while recent funeral events for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reportedly included anti-Trump slogans and banners.
