July 3, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his best wishes to devotees undertaking the annual Amarnath Yatra, calling the pilgrimage a “great privilege” and an eternal part of India’s spiritual heritage. In a message to Lord Shiva devotees, the Prime Minister said that the journey to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine offers millions of devotees an unforgettable opportunity to seek the blessings of Baba Barfani. He described the Yatra as a powerful symbol of India’s “Unity in Diversity,” bringing together people from different regions, languages and traditions.

PM Modi also expressed gratitude to the Indian Army, CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, ITBP, BSF, NDRF, healthcare workers, sanitation staff, administrative officials and volunteers for ensuring the smooth and safe conduct of the pilgrimage. He praised their dedicated efforts in facilitating the two-month-long religious journey amid challenging conditions.

The Prime Minister urged pilgrims to follow five key “Sankalps” (resolves), including maintaining cleanliness, obeying safety guidelines and supporting the local economy by purchasing local products under the “Vocal for Local” initiative. He also encouraged devotees to gift a sapling under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign at the conclusion of the Yatra and reaffirmed the importance of contributing towards the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” with a “Nation First” spirit.
