Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been appointed chairman of the Committee on Petitions following the reconstitution of the parliamentary panel.

May 23, 2026: Raghav Chadha has been appointed as the new chairman of the Committee on Petitions of the Rajya Sabha after the parliamentary panel was reconstituted. The appointment was announced through a notification issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.

According to the notification, Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan nominated 10 members to the committee, with Chadha selected to lead the panel. The reconstituted committee came into effect from May 20, 2026. Other members include Harsh Mahajan, Gulam Ali, Shambhu Sharan Patel, Mayankkumar Nayak, Masthan Rao Yadav Beedha, Jebi Mather Hisham, Subhasish Khuntia, Rwngwra Narzary and Sandosh Kumar P.

The Committee on Petitions examines representations submitted by citizens on matters of public interest and legislative concerns before making recommendations to the House. In another notification, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat announced the nomination of Menaka Guruswamy to the Joint Committee on the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
