Investigators probe financial transactions of the prime accused as the Ram Temple Trust introduces stricter security measures in the donation counting process.

July 5, 2026: The investigation into the alleged theft of donation money at the Ram Mandir has taken a new turn after police uncovered financial transactions worth over ₹15 lakh linked to the prime accused, Avinash Shukla. Investigators are examining whether the transactions were connected to the alleged theft of temple donations. Police also found that Avinash allegedly gifted nearly ₹2 lakh in cash and an expensive mobile phone to his alleged girlfriend, prompting further scrutiny into the source of the funds.

During the investigation, Avinash’s brother, Abhishek, reportedly told police that he had seen him carrying large amounts of cash to a yoga centre on multiple occasions after work. When questioned, Avinash allegedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. Another acquaintance, Anukalp, reportedly claimed that devotees often rewarded Avinash with money for assisting them with temple darshan, while also asking that the matter not be discussed further. Police are now verifying bank records, cash transactions and the accused’s contacts as part of the ongoing probe.

Following the alleged theft, the Ram Temple Trust has significantly tightened security in the donation counting room. Currency notes are now counted on the floor using mattresses and plywood instead of tables, employees are barred from talking during counting, and staff movements, including frequent bathroom visits, are being closely monitored. CCTV surveillance has also been strengthened, and monitoring room staff have been instructed to remain at their designated posts throughout duty hours to ensure complete transparency. The temple authorities said strict action will be taken against those found guilty after the investigation is completed.
