A cyber fraudster allegedly posing as Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s private secretary attempted to cheat Kerala MPs
July 16, 2026: A fraudster allegedly impersonating Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s private secretary has been accused of attempting to cheat several Kerala Congress leaders by demanding money. The case was registered after D.S. Rajkumar, Priyanka Gandhi’s private secretary, filed a complaint with the police. According to the complaint, the accused misused Rajkumar’s identity to contact Elathur MLA K. Vidya Balakrishnan and Congress MPs Shafi Parambil and Dean Kuriakose.
Police said the accused allegedly called Vidya Balakrishnan on WhatsApp, claiming she could become a minister in a possible Kerala Cabinet reshuffle if she paid ₹3 crore. The conversation reportedly lasted around 10 minutes before the MLA became suspicious. After verifying the claim with Priyanka Gandhi’s office, it was confirmed that the call was fraudulent.
The Wayanad Cyber Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act, while Kozhikode Cyber Police are also investigating the matter. Officials said the call originated from New Delhi, a suspect has been identified, and a police team will travel to the national capital to continue the investigation.
