The parents of Siya Goyal have called for the strictest possible punishment if their daughter is convicted in the alleged murder of her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal. In an emotional statement, they said she should be pushed from the same cliff at Lohagad Fort from where Ketan allegedly fell to his death.
Siya Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, have been arrested for allegedly murdering the 26-year-old businessman by pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra’s Sahyadri range.
The incident, initially treated as an accidental fall during a trek, later turned into a murder investigation after police uncovered evidence pointing towards an alleged conspiracy.
‘Throw Her From The Same Fort If She Is Guilty’
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Siya’s mother, Pooja Goyal, said her daughter had never expressed any unhappiness about the marriage with Ketan. The couple was scheduled to marry in November at a palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
She said that if the allegations against her daughter are proven in court, she deserves the harshest punishment.
“If my daughter is found guilty, then she should be thrown from the same place where Ketan was thrown from,” Pooja Goyal said.
Siya’s father, Praveen Goyal, echoed the same sentiment.
“From the fort where Ketan fell, the accused, even if it is my own daughter, should be pushed down,” he said.
‘Ketan Was Like Our Own Son’
Praveen Goyal said the family is struggling to come to terms with the tragedy and described Ketan as someone they considered their own son.
“They’ve lost their son, and their son was ours too. We loved him so much. I had grown so attached to him that it felt like he was our own son. We lost such a loving, promising and good boy. We are deeply saddened,” he said.
According to him, the Agarwal family shared a close bond with them for years, and Ketan had become an integral part of their household.
Praveen recalled that Ketan frequently offered to help with renovation work at their home.
“He would tell me, ‘Papa ji, if there is any work at home—plumbing, marble work or furniture—just let me know. I’ll handle it.’ He never refused to help,” he said.
Parents Say They Knew Nothing About Chetan
Both parents insisted they had no knowledge of Siya’s alleged relationship with Chetan Chaudhary.
“We did not know anything about Chetan. Ever since the engagement, she only spoke to Ketan,” Pooja Goyal said.
Praveen Goyal described Siya as a simple 19-year-old and questioned whether she could have committed such a crime.
“Siya was a simple girl. She is 19 years old. Would a 19-year-old girl do such a thing? I don’t know anything about him. Where did Chetan come from? I’ve never seen his face or spoken to him. He has never visited our house,” he said.
‘Siya Never Opposed The Marriage’
According to her parents, Siya never indicated that she was unhappy with the arranged marriage.
“There were so many expectations and so much affection. Ketan’s family treated Siya with immense love and respect. They even organised birthday celebrations for her. If Siya had any issue, they would discuss it with us. She never expressed any displeasure regarding this marriage,” Pooja Goyal said.
Praveen Goyal also described the Agarwal family as “good, cultured people” and said both families had known each other for years.
He claimed Ketan’s parents treated Siya like their own daughter.
What Siya Told Police During Interrogation
According to police sources, investigators questioned Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary together on Wednesday.
During interrogation, Siya reportedly claimed she did not want to marry Ketan and had informed him of her decision. However, she alleged that Ketan refused to call off the wedding.
According to sources, Siya told investigators that Ketan had said his influential and wealthy family would not allow the marriage to be cancelled and that she would not be able to escape the alliance even if she tried to run away.
These claims, however, remain part of the ongoing investigation and have not been judicially verified.
Police Probe Earlier Alleged Murder Attempts
Investigators have alleged that the June 18 incident was not the first attempt on Ketan’s life.
According to police:
- Siya first visited Lohagad Fort with Ketan on May 31.
- She allegedly insisted on returning on June 4, but Ketan’s mother did not permit him to go.
- On June 14, Siya allegedly persuaded him to revisit the fort and attempted to push him off a cliff.
- Ketan reportedly survived by holding onto a bush.
- When questioned, Siya allegedly claimed she had pushed him to save him from a snake.
Police allege that on June 18, Siya and Chetan executed a pre-planned conspiracy that resulted in Ketan’s death.
Mother Says Trek Was Ketan’s Idea
Pooja Goyal also claimed that Siya herself was not interested in going trekking.
According to her, it was Ketan’s idea to visit Lohagad Fort, and his mother persuaded Siya to accompany him.
Alleged Love Triangle Under Investigation
Police say Siya met Chetan Chaudhary during a business meeting last year, and their relationship allegedly began in November 2025 while preparations for her wedding with Ketan were underway.
Siya owned a bakery, while Chetan operated a dry fruit business. Ketan served as Director and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of his family’s real estate company, Success Group.
Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
