The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has rolled out a redesigned website and mobile app to make online train ticket booking faster, simpler, and more secure. The upgraded platform features a modern interface, streamlined booking process, and enhanced security measures to improve the overall passenger experience.

One of the key updates allows users to save their personal details in their IRCTC profile, eliminating the need to repeatedly enter the same information for every booking. The new platform also removes unnecessary pop-ups and reduces the number of booking steps, making the process quicker and more convenient.

Passengers can now check seat availability across all travel classes on a single screen, making it easier to compare options without navigating multiple pages. The simplified checkout process further reduces the time required to complete bookings.

To strengthen security, IRCTC has reduced repeated CAPTCHA verifications while introducing advanced measures to prevent fraudulent bookings, including misuse of Tatkal ticket reservations.

Indian Railways has also announced new rules for passengers booking unreserved (general) tickets online through the RailOne app. Travelers must now carry an original photo identity card during their journey. Additionally, every online general ticket will be linked to the mobile number used during booking.

Under the revised guidelines, passengers must present the original digital ticket on the same mobile phone used to book the ticket. Screenshots, forwarded tickets, or copies shared through messaging platforms such as WhatsApp will not be accepted during ticket inspections. Failure to produce the original ticket on the booking device may result in passengers being treated as travelling without a valid ticket.

To promote digital ticketing, Indian Railways has extended the 3% R-Wallet bonus for passengers booking general tickets through the RailOne app until August 24, 2028, offering continued savings for frequent users.

Passengers are advised to carry their original ID proof, keep the ticket on the booking device, and follow the updated guidelines to avoid inconvenience during travel.
