Puri, June 28: The holy city of Puri is all set to host the annual Snan Yatra, the sacred bathing festival of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra, on Monday. The Odisha government and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) have completed extensive arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival.
Considered the ceremonial birthday of the sibling deities, Snan Yatra draws thousands of devotees from across the country. Pilgrims have already begun arriving in Puri to witness the traditional Pahandi procession, during which the deities will be taken from the sanctum to the Snan Mandap between 5 am and 7 am.
At the Snan Mandap, priests will perform the sacred bathing ritual by pouring 108 pitchers of holy water over the deities in the presence of devotees.
SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee said that all temple servitors have been instructed to complete the rituals according to the scheduled timeline, ensuring the festival is conducted with devotion and discipline.
Snan Yatra marks the beginning of the final phase of preparations for the world-famous Rath Yatra, one of India’s largest religious festivals.
