In a case that has shocked the Amravati district of Maharashtra, a 19-year-old man was taken into custody on April 11, 2026, for allegedly luring, sexually assaulting, and blackmailing dozens of women and minors. Following the arrest, Amravati Superintendent of Police (Rural) Vishal Anand has constituted a high-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) to uncover the full scale of the operation.

The accused, identified as Ayan Ahmed Tanvir Ahmed (also reported as Mohammad Ayaz, alias Tanveer), a resident of Paratwada, is currently at the center of a probe involving nearly 200 alleged victims.

The Modus Operandi: “Love Traps” and Blackmail
According to police and local reports, the accused allegedly targeted women and young girls through social media and personal interactions.

The Trap: Tanvir allegedly lured victims into romantic relationships, often taking them to cities like Mumbai and Pune.

The Crime: He reportedly recorded obscene videos and took intimate photos of the victims, often against their will.

The Extortion: These visuals were then used to blackmail the victims. In several instances, the accused allegedly forced the victims toward prostitution or threatened to leak the content online to defame them.

Viral Visuals: The matter came to light after several of these videos and photos began circulating on social media, prompting immediate public outcry and a demand for action from Rajya Sabha MP Anil Bonde.

SIT and Legal Charges
The SIT formed to investigate this case is extensive, consisting of 11 police officers and 36 constables, led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police.

Key legal developments include:

Charges: A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act (Sections 8 and 12), the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Section 294 for obscene content), and various provisions of the IT Act.

Victim Count: While investigations are ongoing, some reports suggest the accused may have targeted up to 180 minors.

Silence of Victims: Police noted that despite the severity of the allegations, many victims have yet to come forward officially due to the social stigma and trauma involved.

“Bulldozer Action” and Further Probes
In a move seen as a strict deterrent, the Amravati District Administration carried out a partial demolition of the accused’s house on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Demolition: Using a JCB, authorities removed an iron staircase and other parts of the residence in the presence of heavy police security.

Wider Network: MP Anil Bonde has suggested that Tanvir may not have acted alone, hinting at a wider network of individuals involved in the “love trap” racket. The SIT is currently scanning the accused’s digital devices to identify potential accomplices.
