The Supreme Court said the matter will be taken up after July 12, while Ayodhya Police widened its investigation by questioning SBI officials
June 29, 2026: The Supreme Court has declined to grant an urgent hearing in the alleged Ram Temple donation theft case, stating that the matter will be heard after July 12. The petitioner argued that the allegations involved serious financial irregularities and required immediate judicial intervention, but the court refused to fast-track the proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Ayodhya Police has intensified its investigation by questioning officials at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Naya Ghat. Two bank employees, identified as Ratnesh and Gagandeep, are being examined over their alleged role in handling the temple’s donation collections. Investigators have also recorded the preliminary statement of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, and officials indicated that he may be questioned again. Trustee Anil Mishra may also be summoned as the probe progresses.
The investigation has also triggered fresh controversy following reports that Champat Rai allegedly submitted his resignation based on the findings of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) report. However, the SIT report has reportedly not been made public, raising further questions over the investigation and the developments surrounding the alleged misappropriation of temple donations.
