Two BJP leaders from South 24 Parganas have accused Abhishek Banerjee, his aide Sumit Roy

June 25, 2026: Two complaints have been filed against Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee at Diamond Harbour police station in West Bengal over alleged post-poll violence. According to police sources, Banerjee’s close aide Sumit Roy and members of the local TMC unit have also been named in the complaints. The allegations were raised by BJP leaders Prabir Haldar and Ashok Barman from South 24 Parganas district.

The complainants allege that they were attacked following the 2019 and 2022 elections and suffered damage to their homes, businesses and other properties. Ashok Barman claimed that his residence was attacked after the 2022 polls and that his fish shop and warehouse were vandalised. Prabir Haldar also alleged that he was assaulted and incurred losses due to post-poll violence in the area.

Both BJP leaders further claimed that police had refused to register their complaints when the incidents were originally reported. Police sources have confirmed receipt of the fresh complaints, but no official statement has been issued regarding the allegations or the possibility of an investigation. Abhishek Banerjee, Sumit Roy and the Trinamool Congress have not publicly responded to the claims so far.
