Novak on his bond with Virat: "I admire his career, achievement":

Tennis star and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic said that he has been in regular contact with Virat Kohli, who is India’s best batsmen. The 24-time major winner said that he and Kohli have known each other for a while and that he really looks up to Kohli. He said that even though he hasn’t met an Indian pitcher, he has had the chance to talk to one about his game.

As the Australian Open 2024 approaches, tennis star Djokovic has been in the news for how fit and determined he is at the age of 36. What the Serb said was true: he is very friendly with Indian cricket star Kohli and has been talking to him for a few years. Kohli told Djokovic how great his career was and Djokovic thanked Kohli for the praise.

Djokovic told Sony Sports, “Virat Kohli and I have been texting a bit for a few years, but we never got the chance to meet in person.” But it was a pleasure and an honour to hear him say nice things about me, and I definitely admire his work and everything he has accomplished. A possible 25th Grand Slam title is on the line for Djokovic. He talked about how much he admires India and what motivates him to do great things every day.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner talked about his last trip to the country, which was ten years ago. It was on Djokovic’s list to go to India soon to see its history, culture, faith, and beauty. “I’ve only been to India once in my whole life.” I believe it was 10 or 11 years ago. I came to New Delhi to play at an art show for two days. The time was very short. So, I really hope I can come back soon too, because I really want to explore your beautiful country, which has a lot of history, culture, and faith to offer the world. “That’s amazing,” the 36-year-old said.

Novak, who has won the Australian Open 10 times, will play Dino Prizmic of Croatia in the first round on Sunday. This is the year that Novak is planning to try to win a Golden Slam. On the other hand, India’s best hitter, Kohli, will be back for the second T20I against Afghanistan in Indore on Sunday. He missed the first game of the series for personal reasons.
