President Murmu, PM Modi condole loss of lives in Bharatpur road accident

New Delhi [India]:  President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the loss of lives in the Bharatpur road accident, which took place on the Jaipur-Agra National Highway near Hantra village in Rajasthan.

PM Modi also announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh for kin of each deceased in the Bharatpur road accident, which took place earlier today, an official statement said.
The injured will be provided Rs 50,000 each, the statement added.

“The Prime Minister has approved an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the mishap in Bharatpur. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000 each”, said an ‘X’ post from the PMO.

President Murmu wrote in an ‘X’ post, “I am deeply saddened by the news of a bus of devotees going from Gujarat to Uttar Pradesh meeting with an accident in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan and the death of many passengers. I express my condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured”.

Earlier, the Gujarat Chief Minister and his Rajasthan counterpart also condoled the loss of lives in the road accident.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the Bharatpur road accident rose to 12, an official informed.
Earlier, 11 people had died and 12 were injured as a trailer hit a stationary bus on the Jaipur-Agra National Highway in the Hantra village in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, the official said.

The bus was heading to Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura from Gujarat’s Bhavnagar.
As the bus suffered a tyre burst, its repair work was going on.

Meanwhile, some passengers were on the bus while some were standing outside when the high-speed trailer hit the bus and dragged it 30 metres, the official added.
The injured were taken to a hospital while the bodies were kept in a mortuary.
