Against all odds, shooting for Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ has begun. Some images from the movie sets have been leaked and have taken the Internet by storm!

According to media reports, Ramayana will be announced formally on April 17, 2024 – on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami.

The production team has spent over 5 years in pre-production to get the script and visuals in place.

According to details, the magnum opus will feature some of the best actors including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi will be essaying the role of Sita. On the other hand, Yash will be portraying the role of mighty Ravana. Sunny Deol will also be a part of the film as he will be essaying the role of Lord Hanuman.

It’s been reported that Lara Dutta will portray Kaikeyi, while Rakul Preet Singh is said to take on the role of Shrupanakha.

On Thursday, an RK fan handle shared some BTS (behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the film sets.

From the videos, some makeshift pillars and wooden walls could be seen. Fans guessed that a lavish set would be crafted to recreate the magic of Ayodhya, considered to be the birthplace of Lord Ram. Some images also hold the caption, ‘Ramayana, Day 1’.

Some pictures of actresses Sheeba Chadda and Lara Dutta have also gone viral on the Internet.

Ranbir Kapoor’s fan club also shared a video of the actor’s intense preparation from this upcoming film.

Actor Arun Govil also shared some BTS scenes where a co-star could be seen all decked up in ornaments. Govil, who incidentally essayed the role of Lord Ram in the 1987 TV series, will play the role of Ram’s father Dasarath.

The film will be Directed by Nitesh Tiwari (best known for the Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Dangal’), ‘Ramayana’ is an adaptation of the timeless epic penned by sage Valmiki.

As per sources, the movie’s budget is a staggering Rs 500 crore. The film sets cost a jaw-dropping Rs 11 crore!

The movie will be made in three parts. It will start with Lord Ram’s birth and will trace his youth, his marriage with Sita, his exile, and finally Sita’s abduction. The following parts will explore Ram’s journey to rescue his wife and his final face-off with Ravana.

The movie is expected to hit the big screens in 2025.
