World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz has congratulated Jannik Sinner after the Italian tennis star successfully defended his Wimbledon men’s singles title. Sinner defeated Germany’s Alexander Zverev in a thrilling four-set final to lift his second consecutive Wimbledon crown and further cement his place among the sport’s elite.

Sinner claimed the championship with a 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 victory over Zverev in a high-quality final at the All England Club. The win marked another milestone in the 24-year-old’s remarkable rise, as he continued his dominance at Grand Slam tournaments.

Soon after the final, Carlos Alcaraz took to his Instagram Stories to congratulate his rival and friend. Sharing a heartfelt message, the Spanish star wrote, “Congratulations Jannik and team! Enjoy the moment!” Alcaraz, who lost to Sinner in last year’s Wimbledon final, acknowledged the Italian’s latest Grand Slam success with a warm gesture.

Several tennis legends and former players also applauded the new champion. Tennis icon Rod Laver praised both finalists, calling it an exceptional Wimbledon final and commending Alexander Zverev for his fighting spirit while congratulating Sinner on another memorable title. Former World No. 4 James Blake described the match as a display of tremendous tennis, while renowned coach Brad Gilbert also celebrated Sinner’s back-to-back Wimbledon triumph.

The victory also saw Jannik Sinner reach a significant career milestone. He became the eighth active men’s player to register 100 Grand Slam match victories, joining an elite group that includes Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Marin Cilic, Alexander Zverev, Gael Monfils, Kei Nishikori, and Grigor Dimitrov.

Sinner now owns an impressive 100-22 win-loss record in Grand Slam tournaments, translating to a winning percentage of more than 82 percent. Since the opening round of the 2024 Australian Open, the Italian has compiled a sensational 62-6 record at Grand Slams, with his only defeats during that period coming against Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Novak Djokovic, and Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

The Italian’s rise has been nothing short of extraordinary. His first Grand Slam match victory came at the 2020 Australian Open against Max Purcell, and during Wimbledon 2026, he also became the Italian man with the most Grand Slam singles match wins, surpassing the previous national record. With consecutive Wimbledon titles and several records already to his name, Jannik Sinner continues to establish himself as one of the leading stars of world tennis.
