Gujarat Titans produced a clinical all-round performance to thrash Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs in their IPL 2026 clash in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, climbing to the top of the points table with a commanding victory.
After being asked to bat first by SRH captain Pat Cummins, Gujarat Titans recovered strongly from early setbacks to post 168/5 in 20 overs, thanks to impressive half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar.

In reply, Hyderabad’s heavily star-studded batting line-up completely collapsed under relentless pressure from the GT bowlers and were bundled out for just 86 runs.
GT Recover After Early Jolts
The innings did not begin smoothly for Gujarat as they lost captain Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler cheaply inside the powerplay.
However, Sai Sudharsan steadied the innings brilliantly and stitched together a crucial partnership with Washington Sundar to shift momentum back in Gujarat’s favour.
Sudharsan played a composed knock of 61 runs, while Sundar smashed a fluent 50 to guide GT towards a competitive total. The duo handled the middle overs smartly and ensured Gujarat crossed the 160-run mark despite the early damage.
Late cameos further helped GT finish strongly at 168/5 in their 20 overs.
Rabada, Holder Destroy SRH Batting
Chasing 169, Hyderabad never found any rhythm as Gujarat’s pace attack ripped through the top order.
Kagiso Rabada struck early and removed key batters, while Mohammed Siraj added to SRH’s troubles during a fiery opening spell.
The Hyderabad batting order, featuring names like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen, failed to make any impact.
With SRH already struggling badly, Jason Holder tightened Gujarat’s grip further by picking up three wickets in the middle overs. Prasidh Krishna also chipped in with two wickets as Hyderabad’s innings folded for a mere 86.
GT Climb To The Top
The emphatic victory helped Gujarat Titans move to the top of the IPL 2026 standings, significantly boosting their net run rate as well.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, the defeat exposed major concerns in their batting unit, especially with several senior stars failing to deliver in a high-pressure chase.
Interestingly, Gujarat Titans also wore special lavender jerseys during the match in support of cancer awareness, adding a meaningful gesture to a memorable night for the franchise.
