Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was once again absent from the playing XI as Mumbai Indians faced Sunrisers Hyderabad in their Indian Premier League 2026 clash in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Rohit, who has already missed the last three matches due to a hamstring injury, has not yet been fully cleared to return to competitive action. The injury dates back to April 12, during Mumbai Indians’ match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where he showed visible discomfort and required treatment on the field.

Hardik Pandya Says Rohit Needs ‘A Couple More Games’ To Return

At the toss, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya confirmed that Rohit is still working towards full fitness and will likely need more time before making a comeback.

“Ro is going to take a couple more games. He has been trying, but he is not exactly where he would want to be. So, he is not available for this game. I just want to come out and play my best cricket. That will definitely help the group and the team,” Pandya said.
