UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland was escorted out of the UFC Freedom 250 fan festival in Washington, D.C., on Sunday evening after a large crowd of fans gathered around him, creating safety concerns for both the fighter and attendees.
Although Strickland was not scheduled to compete at UFC Freedom 250, he remained a major attraction throughout the event week and attended several UFC-related activities.
Crowd Rush Prompts Security Response
According to the United States Park Police, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. at The Ellipse, where the fan festival was being held ahead of the main card.

Authorities said Strickland’s unexpected appearance quickly drew attention from fans, leading to disorder around the venue.
In an official statement, the Park Police explained that security personnel from multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and U.S. Park Police, decided to remove Strickland from the area as a precaution.
Officials stated that the decision was made to protect both the UFC champion and the thousands of fans attending the event.
Fans React to Unexpected Encounter
Many attendees were excited to see Strickland in person.

Jaclyn Cruz, a 26-year-old UFC fan from Nashville, Tennessee, said she spotted the champion during the festival and managed to record a video before security escorted him away.
She described the experience as surreal and said seeing one of the sport’s biggest stars up close felt like a dream.
The incident quickly became a talking point among fans gathered at the event.

Following the incident, Strickland shared a message on Instagram thanking fans for their support throughout UFC Freedom 250 week.
The fighter also joked that he might have received a citation for disorderly conduct due to the chaos surrounding his appearance.
However, authorities later clarified that no such action had been taken.
No Arrest or Citation Issued
The United States Park Police confirmed that Strickland was neither arrested nor cited in connection with the incident.
Instead, officers simply advised him not to return to the venue because of ongoing safety concerns.
Authorities added that the UFC champion cooperated fully with security personnel and was transported back to his hotel without any issues.
