Three times Padma awardee, veteran classical singer Prabha Atre passes away due to heart

Prabha Atre, a seasoned vocalist of classical music and three-time Padma recipient, passed suddenly this morning from a heart attack. At the age of 92, the singer passed away. After suffering a heart attack, she was rushed to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune. She passed away before getting to the hospital.

She was scheduled to take part in an event in Mumbai today. Her health had been declining, though, even before this. Prabha Atre was born on 13 September 1932 in Pune. In addition to receiving the Padma Shri in 1990, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2022, she was also honoured with the Atal Sanskriti Award on December 25, 2018, from Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. “Her leaving the world is very painful, Indian music will always be indebted to her, I pay my heartfelt tribute to her and may God give strength to her family to bear this loss,” Fadnavis said, expressing grief over her passing.

“Prabha ji’s demise marked the end of a glorious era of classical music,” said Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, who also expressed his condolences. He pays respect to her, saying that the music and art sectors of the nation have lost a great deal with her passing. “Am.” The Maharashtra chief minister, who expressed sorrow over her passing, gave the go-ahead for the singer’s final ceremonies to be held with full official honours. Her final ceremonies are scheduled to take place in Pune on Tuesday, following the homecoming of her relatives who are currently overseas.
