Renowned wrestler Vinesh Phogat, a gold medalist at the Asian Games, has made serious allegations against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), claiming they are attempting to thwart her Olympic aspirations for the 2024 Paris Games.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Phogat directed accusations towards former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and WFI’s current head Sanjay Singh. She expressed concerns that they might tamper with her water during matches.

Additionally, Phogat lamented the denial of accreditation for her personal coach and physiotherapist for the upcoming Asian Olympic qualification event starting on April 19. Despite her repeated appeals to the Government of India, she received no definitive response.

Phogat questioned the treatment she and her team were receiving, wondering if it was retribution for speaking out against sexual harassment. Despite these challenges, she expressed hope for justice before representing India in international competitions.

Phogat, a decorated wrestler, recently triumphed in women’s 50 kg trials and is gearing up for the Asian Championships and Olympic Qualifiers in Kyrgyzstan. The Asian Wrestling Championships are scheduled from April 11 to 16, followed by the Asian Olympic Qualifiers from April 19 to 21.
