US President Donald Trump has claimed that he has already directed American officials to launch a massive military response against Iran if the Islamic Republic succeeds in assassinating him.
Speaking to media, Trump said he has been on Iran’s target list for years and insisted that clear instructions are already in place in case such an attack ever happens.
Trump Claims Iran Has Targeted Him for Years
During the interview, Trump said he believes Iran has considered him its primary target for a long time.
He claimed there was no new assassination plot despite recent reports suggesting Israel had raised fresh concerns. However, Trump maintained that the threat against him has existed for several years.
“I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with.”
He also made a strong statement about how the United States should respond if he were assassinated.
“I’ve left instructions, if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”
Trump did not provide additional details about the alleged directive or explain when those instructions were issued.
Responds to Reports of a New Assassination Plot
When asked about reports claiming Israel had warned of a new Iranian plot to kill him, Trump dismissed the suggestion.
According to him, the situation is not new and Iran has wanted him dead for years.
“No, no. Israel came up with nothing.”
He also repeated his belief that he remains Iran’s top target.
“I’ve been No. 1 on Iran’s kill list for a long time.”
Before ending the conversation, Trump joked with reporters by saying:
“I hope you’ll miss me.”
White House Changed Travel Plans After NATO Summit
Trump’s comments came shortly after his travel plans changed following the NATO Summit in Ankara.
Instead of following his original schedule, the US President altered his return journey to the United States.
The White House later confirmed that the change was made for security reasons but did not provide further details.
Why Iran and Trump Have Been at Odds
The tensions between Trump and Iran date back to January 2020, when the United States carried out a drone strike that killed senior Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad.
Since then, American officials have repeatedly warned about potential Iranian threats against Trump and other former US officials linked to the operation.
Trump has also publicly stated on several occasions that he believes Iran considers him its primary target.
During a recent appearance at the NATO summit, he repeated that claim.
“Because I’m their number one target. It’s out all over the place.”
He also acknowledged that he has been fortunate so far but admitted that the risk remains.
“So far, I guess I’ve been a little bit lucky. But that maybe doesn’t last very long.”
Trump Declares US-Iran Ceasefire ‘Over’
The US President also announced that he considers the previous understanding between Washington and Tehran to be over.
He sharply criticised Iranian negotiators and questioned the value of continuing diplomatic talks.
According to Trump, the United States can continue discussions if necessary, but he believes further negotiations are unlikely to produce meaningful results.
He also described Iranian leaders as “vicious” and said he no longer has confidence in the diplomatic process.
Anti-US Slogans at Funeral Ceremony
Trump’s remarks also came after anti-American slogans were reportedly heard during the funeral ceremony of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran.
According to reports, crowds chanted slogans calling for the deaths of both Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Posters and graffiti carrying similar messages were also displayed at the venue.
The developments come at a time when the United States and Iran continue to face deep political and military tensions despite periodic efforts to revive diplomatic engagement.
