Kasim Khan says the jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister urgently needs medical care and claims the family has been denied contact with him for months.
July 24, 2026: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s son, Kasim Khan, has appealed to the international community to intervene, claiming his father urgently requires medical attention while being held in solitary confinement. In a post on X, Kasim said he and his brother Sulaiman Khan have not been able to speak to their father since March and remain unaware of his health condition. Imran Khan, 73, has spent nearly 1,100 days in custody and is currently lodged in Adiala Jail after being arrested in August 2023 in the Toshakhana corruption case before facing several other convictions.
Kasim expressed concern over his father’s reportedly deteriorating eyesight, alleging that the family has been denied access to him and has received no reliable information about his medical treatment. He also criticised Pakistan’s political leadership, accusing the country’s establishment of suppressing democratic institutions and denying citizens the right to freely choose their leaders. Calling for global attention, Kasim urged the international community not to remain silent in the face of what he described as injustice.
Health concerns surrounding Imran Khan have persisted for months. Earlier this year, his legal team and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claimed delayed treatment for a blood clot caused severe vision loss in his right eye, prompting Pakistan’s Supreme Court to order the formation of a medical board to examine him. While Khan’s family and party continue to raise concerns over his confinement and access to healthcare, the Pakistani government maintains that he is receiving appropriate medical treatment. Earlier this year, 14 former international cricket captains also appealed to the government to ensure fair treatment for the jailed former prime minister.
