Tensions in West Asia have escalated once again after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that any further military action by the United States would be met with a “crushing response.” The warning follows fresh US strikes on Iranian positions and Tehran’s retaliatory missile and drone attacks targeting American military facilities in the Gulf region.
Iran Claims Missile and Drone Strikes on US Bases
In an official statement, the IRGC said its Navy and Aerospace Force launched a coordinated military operation between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. local time, firing ballistic missiles and drones at eight US military installations.
According to Iran, the targets included Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters at Port Salman in Bahrain. Tehran described the operation as retaliation for recent American attacks on Iranian positions.
Iran Accuses US of Violating Ceasefire
The IRGC alleged that US forces attacked five Iranian coastal military positions, claiming Washington violated existing commitments by carrying out strikes under the pretext of responding to Iranian actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran also accused the United States of breaching the ceasefire agreement and warned that continued military action could derail ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Warning Over Strait of Hormuz
Iran announced that it would intensify security enforcement in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime trade routes. The IRGC warned that vessels violating Iranian regulations would face stronger action in the future.
The statement added that any future military aggression against Iran, regardless of the justification, would receive a stronger and more comprehensive response.
Regional Tensions Continue to Rise
The latest exchange of military strikes has renewed concerns over stability in the Gulf region and the security of international shipping routes. Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to maintain a ceasefire, both sides continue to accuse each other of violating agreed commitments, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.
International observers are closely monitoring developments as the United States and Iran remain locked in a fragile standoff with significant implications for regional security and global energy markets.
