Bella Hadid once again turned heads at the Cannes Film Festival 2026 with a dramatic couture look inspired by iconic fashion muse Jane Birkin. The model wore a custom ivory gown by Schiaparelli during the screening of La Bataille De Gaulle: L’Âge De Fer, blending vintage inspiration with modern haute couture craftsmanship.

The intricately detailed gown reportedly required the expertise of 130 artisans and more than 22,000 hours of embroidery work.

Bella Hadid’s Cannes Look Was A Couture Masterpiece

Designed by Schiaparelli creative director Daniel Roseberry, the ivory gown created the illusion of delicate lace through highly detailed trompe l’oeil embroidery crafted using cords and anchor threads.

The outfit featured a dramatic plunging neckline, a sculpted corset silhouette, and a tiered mermaid-style train that added theatrical elegance to Bella’s red carpet appearance.

Inspired By Jane Birkin’s Iconic 1969 Look

Bella Hadid’s couture ensemble was also a tribute to Jane Birkin, one of fashion’s most enduring style icons and the muse behind the famous Hermès Birkin bag.

Bella’s modern reinterpretation intentionally recreated elements of that bold styling moment while incorporating Schiaparelli’s signature couture structure.

Over 130 Artisans Worked On The Gown

The couture house revealed on Instagram that more than 130 artisans contributed to the creation of Bella Hadid’s gown.

The handcrafted embroidery, illusion lace detailing, sculpted corsetry, and lace-up back demonstrated the extensive craftsmanship involved in the design process. The gown’s construction reflected the precision
