Jalandhar Blast: Tensions have gripped the state of Punjab following twin explosions near high-security military-linked locations in Jalandhar and Amritsar. Shortly after the incidents, the Khalistan Liberation Army (KLA) surfaced on social media to claim responsibility for the blast near the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters in Jalandhar.

In a chilling poster, the group framed the attack as the beginning of “Operation Nawa Savair,” a campaign of retaliation for a controversial police encounter that took place earlier this year.

Retaliation for Gurdaspur Encounter

The KLA poster, dated May 5, 2026, explicitly cites the death of 19-year-old Ranjit Singh as the motivation behind the violence. Singh was killed by police in Gurdaspur on February 25, 2026, following allegations that he was involved in the murder of two officers near the Pakistan border. While the KLA claims the blast resulted in BSF casualties and threatened to “shed so much blood that everything will look red,” official reports confirm that no casualties have been recorded in the Jalandhar incident. Senior BSF officials, including DIG Sandeep Goyal, have also been named as targets in the inflammatory post.

Explosions at BSF Chowk and Khasa Army Camp

The first blast occurred around 8:15 PM near BSF Chowk in Jalandhar, where a scooter belonging to a local delivery worker, Gurpreet Singh, suddenly erupted into flames. Eyewitnesses reported a loud explosion followed by immediate panic in the crowded area. Roughly two hours later, a second explosion was reported near an Army camp in Khasa, Amritsar, with the impact felt over a kilometre away. Forensic experts, bomb disposal squads, and sniffer dog teams were immediately deployed to both sites to determine the exact nature of the devices used.

State-Wide Security Alert

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur stated that while the primary facts involve a vehicle fire, the possibility of a coordinated explosive attack has not been ruled out. Security across Punjab has been placed on high alert as authorities investigate whether the twin blasts were part of a singular, orchestrated plot to destabilize the region. Investigators are currently verifying the authenticity of the KLA’s social media claims and monitoring accounts known for spreading radical ideologies.
