Nashik Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik announced on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, that details of the case have been shared with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and central intelligence agencies. The move aims to determine if the accused had any links to extremist organizations or received foreign funding for their activities.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently focused on the roles of eight senior employees who allegedly orchestrated a pattern of workplace abuse and religious targeting between February 2022 and March 2026.

The Scale of the Investigation
What began as a workplace misconduct probe has transformed into a major criminal case involving multiple victims and severe charges.

Victims & FIRs: Twelve victims have been identified so far, with nine FIRs registered between March 26 and April 3. Complaints include allegations of sexual assault, stalking, and “corporate jihad.”

Religious Coercion: Victims alleged they were pressured to offer namaz, consume food against their beliefs, and were subjected to mental harassment intended to force religious conversion.

Undercover Operation: The case broke open following a 40-day undercover sting by six women police officers who posed as employees to gather evidence on the senior staff.

Key Arrests and Legal Status
Seven of the eight named accused have been apprehended, including six men and one woman.

HR Failure: The operations-cum-HR manager, arrested on April 13, was remanded to 14 days of magisterial custody on Wednesday. She is accused of siding with the harassers and discouraging victims from filing formal complaints.

Absconding Accused: A high-ranking female HR executive remains at large.

Corporate Response: TCS has officially suspended the investigated employees and launched an internal probe led by COO Aarthi Subramanian. Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran termed the allegations “gravely concerning and anguishing.”

Political and Social Backlash
The case has ignited a firestorm of political debate and public protest in Maharashtra.

Government Stance: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised a thorough investigation, describing the reports as “extremely serious.”

Nationwide Protest: The Bajrang Dal has called for a nationwide protest on April 16 and 17, 2026, to denounce the alleged forced conversions and harassment at the Nashik facility.

The SIT continues to analyze digital chats, CCTV footage, and victim testimonies to uncover whether this was a localized incident or part of a broader, organized network.
