India will host the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi on May 14 and 15 under its 2026 chairship

May 12, 2026: India is preparing to host the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi on May 14 and 15, marking a major diplomatic event under its chairship of the expanded BRICS grouping. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will chair the high-level meeting, which is expected to be attended by foreign ministers and senior representatives from member and partner nations. Delegates are also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the summit.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the discussions would focus on global and regional developments, reforms in multilateral institutions and strengthening cooperation among Global South nations. India has adopted the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” for its BRICS 2026 chairship, reflecting its “Humanity First” and people-centric approach. This will be the fourth time India hosts the BRICS Summit and the first major ministerial gathering under the current chairship.

The official sessions will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, with opening remarks from all sessions to be streamed live through the Ministry of External Affairs’ official platforms and DD News. Russia has already confirmed the participation of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The expanded BRICS grouping now includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, making the summit one of the most significant multilateral engagements for India this year.
