Speculation surrounding Hardik Pandya’s future in the Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to grow, with multiple reports suggesting the Mumbai Indians all-rounder could be on the move ahead of the 2027 season.

Among the franchises linked with Hardik are Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has now addressed the rumours, insisting the franchise has not yet discussed a potential move.

CSK CEO Responds to Hardik Pandya Speculation

Speaking to media, Viswanathan dismissed reports of ongoing talks, stating that the franchise will only begin reviewing its squad after the conclusion of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026.

“We have not had any discussion. This will be done only after the season review, which will happen only after the MLC,” Viswanathan said.

The 2026 edition of Major League Cricket runs until July 18, with Texas Super Kings, the CSK-owned franchise, participating in the tournament.

Several IPL Teams Interested

According to a report by the media, as many as seven IPL franchises have expressed interest in acquiring Hardik Pandya during the trade window.

The report added that only defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are not currently in the race.

Why CSK Could Target Hardik

Chennai Super Kings endured another disappointing campaign in IPL 2026, finishing eighth after ending last in the 2025 season.

The team’s struggles have intensified scrutiny over captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, whose form and leadership have come under question following CSK’s third consecutive failure to reach the playoffs.

Hardik Pandya, one of India’s premier white-ball all-rounders and an experienced IPL-winning captain, is viewed by many as a strong leadership option should CSK decide to pursue a trade.

Hardik’s Future Under the Spotlight

Although Hardik endured an underwhelming IPL 2026 with Mumbai Indians, he remains one of the league’s most valuable all-rounders because of his ability to contribute with both bat and ball while also offering leadership experience.

At present, neither Mumbai Indians nor Hardik Pandya has commented publicly on the trade speculation.

With the MLC season still underway, any official developments regarding IPL trades are expected only after franchise reviews begin later this month.
