The historic feat came during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s high-voltage IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 clash against Gujarat Titans in Dharamsala on Tuesday.
Kohli played a brisk knock of 43 runs off just 25 balls, giving Royal Challengers Bengaluru a flying start in the crucial playoff encounter. Although the veteran batter looked set for a bigger score, he was dismissed by West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, who clean-bowled him to end a dangerous innings.
Despite missing out on a half-century, Kohli crossed the 600-run mark for the season, further strengthening his legacy as one of the greatest batters in IPL history.

Kohli has now achieved the 600-run milestone in six separate IPL editions:
- 2013 – 634 runs
- 2016 – 973 runs
- 2023 – 639 runs

No other player in IPL history has managed six 600-plus seasons, underlining Kohli’s unmatched consistency across more than a decade in the tournament.
Rajat Patidar Powers RCB To Record Total
While Kohli laid the platform, RCB captain Rajat Patidar stole the spotlight with a sensational innings.
Patidar smashed 93 runs off only 33 balls, hammering five fours and nine towering sixes in one of the most destructive playoff knocks in IPL history. His explosive batting, combined with a useful 43-run contribution from Krunal Pandya, powered Bengaluru to 254/5.
The total became the highest-ever team score in an IPL playoff match.
