Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is set to return to Harare as part of India’s senior T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against Zimbabwe. The 15-year-old will once again play at the Harare Sports Club, a venue that holds special significance in his young cricketing career.
Sooryavanshi made headlines at the ICC Under-19 World Cup after producing a stunning 175 off 80 balls in the final against England, leading India to a dominant 100-run victory and a record-extending sixth Under-19 World Cup title. He also emerged as India’s highest run-scorer during the tournament, establishing himself as one of the country’s brightest young talents.
Ahead of the Zimbabwe series, the left-handed batter said returning to Harare brings back fond memories and could help him regain momentum after experiencing a mixed run of form in recent months.
The youngster also recalled his unbeaten 68 against Afghanistan in the Under-19 World Cup semi-final at the same venue, saying the familiarity of the ground gives him added confidence as he prepares for his latest challenge with the senior national team.
Despite the expectations that followed his remarkable Under-19 campaign, Sooryavanshi admitted the past few months have been filled with highs and lows. He now views the Zimbabwe series as an opportunity to make a fresh start and showcase his abilities on the international stage.
India will face Zimbabwe in a three-match T20I series, with all the matches scheduled to be played at the Harare Sports Club.
