Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced early setbacks against Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2026 clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, with wickets falling at regular intervals despite a strong start from the openers.

DC skipper Axar Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that paid off as the visitors managed to keep RCB in check during the middle overs. RCB reached 116/3 in 11.3 overs at a rapid scoring rate of over 10 runs per over.

Virat Kohli departed for 19 runs after being dismissed by Lungi Ngidi, who struck early to give DC their first breakthrough. Kohli attempted to attack but mistimed his shot, finding the fielder at deep cover.

Earlier in the innings, Phil Salt provided momentum for RCB with an explosive knock, reaching a brisk half-century off just 30 balls. His innings included aggressive stroke play and powerful hitting before DC managed to pull things back with timely wickets.

Devdutt Padikkal also contributed 18 runs but was dismissed by Axar Patel, who led DC’s disciplined bowling effort. Kuldeep Yadav also made an impact with a key breakthrough during the middle overs, helping DC maintain control.

With Tim David and Rajat Patidar at the crease, RCB will look to accelerate in the death overs after a mixed batting performance despite a strong start from Phil Salt.
