Apple Inc. is reportedly gearing up for one of its most significant Mac product refreshes in recent years, with a wave of new devices expected to launch as the company seeks to capitalize on the growing demand for AI-powered personal computers.
According to a Bloomberg report, the overhaul will begin this fall with the introduction of an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by Apple’s next-generation M6 chip, alongside the first update to the iMac in nearly two years.
The report states that development of both products has already been completed, with shipments expected to begin later this year.
M6 MacBook Pro and New iMac to Lead Apple’s Refresh
The upcoming Mac lineup is expected to be spearheaded by a new 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with Apple’s next-generation M6 processor.
Apple is also preparing to unveil an updated iMac, marking the desktop’s first major refresh in almost two years.
While the products are reportedly ready for production, commercial availability is expected later in the year.
More Macs Set to Receive Apple Silicon Upgrades
Beyond the MacBook Pro and iMac, Apple is reportedly working on refreshed versions of several other Mac products.
According to Bloomberg, the company is developing updated models of:
- MacBook Air
- Mac mini
- Mac Studio
All of these devices are expected to feature newer generations of Apple Silicon processors, continuing Apple’s transition toward more powerful and energy-efficient in-house chips.
Premium OLED MacBook Pro Also in Development
Bloomberg also reports that Apple remains on track to launch a redesigned high-end MacBook Pro featuring an OLED display and a touchscreen, marking one of the biggest design changes to the notebook in years.
The premium model is expected to arrive between late this year and early next year.
According to the report:
- High-end models will be powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
- Apple is already planning future MacBook Pro variants featuring M7 Pro and M7 Max processors, expected to launch in 2027 and 2028.
The report added that release timelines for some desktop Mac models could depend on the availability of memory chips.
AI Boom Driving Demand for Powerful Macs
The upcoming refresh comes as artificial intelligence applications increasingly require greater computing power.
Bloomberg reports that Apple’s Mac business is expected to post sales growth for a third consecutive year, driven in part by users running AI-related workloads and other compute-intensive applications.

Mac Mini and Mac Studio See Strong Demand
The report also highlights the growing popularity of the Mac mini and Mac Studio, particularly among software developers and AI professionals.
Their powerful processors, efficient architecture and ability to connect with multiple external displays have made them attractive options for demanding computing tasks.
According to Bloomberg, demand for some existing Mac mini and Mac Studio models has exceeded supply, with certain configurations reportedly experiencing shipping delays of up to three months.
If the reported roadmap materializes, Apple’s upcoming Mac refresh could represent one of the company’s most comprehensive hardware upgrades in years, further strengthening its position in the rapidly expanding AI computing market.
