OnePlus has officially begun rolling out the OxygenOS 16.1 update for its flagship OnePlus 15 in India, marking a significant shift in the device’s user experience.

The update, which arrives as a substantial 2.1GB download, focuses heavily on “intelligence-first” features and a refined UI. Borrowing from the shared codebase of ColorOS 16.1, this version introduces deeper AI integration and a complete overhaul of how users interact with live notifications and the lock screen.
The centerpiece of this update is the all-new “Live Space” experience. Reimagining the “Fluid Cloud” tool from previous versions, OnePlus has moved the dynamic interaction zone from the top notch to the bottom of the screen for better one-handed accessibility. This capsule-style bar provides real-time updates for timers, music, and food delivery. Additionally, a new Music Focus Mode allows album art to fill the lock screen with real-time scrolling lyrics, creating a more immersive media experience without unlocking the device.
AI-Powered Productivity and Camera Upgrades
OxygenOS 16.1 leans into the power of Gemini Intelligence to enhance daily tasks. Key AI additions include:
- AI Translate: A new offline capability specifically designed to translate foreign restaurant menus and documents via the camera.
- AI Summary: Live translation can now generate automatic titles and concise summaries of long-form content.
- AI Document Scan: Improved algorithms for scanning physical documents with better clarity and shadow removal.
The camera app also sees a professional-grade boost with the introduction of Master Presets. Users can now save custom shooting parameters including ISO, shutter speed, and white balance as personalized presets for quick access. The UI has been decluttered, and battery settings have been upgraded to provide granular data, such as specific power consumption by personal hotspots.
System Fluidity and Home Screen Customization
Beyond features, OnePlus has fine-tuned the “Oxygen” feel with smoother system-wide animations that feel more responsive to touch. The home screen now offers smarter organization, allowing users to sort apps by color or category automatically. A new safety net for enthusiasts is the Layout Recovery feature, which automatically saves home screen arrangements, allowing users to revert to a previous setup with a single tap if they dislike their changes.
While the update is currently exclusive to the OnePlus 15 in the Indian market, it is expected to reach the OnePlus 13 and 12 series, as well as the Nord 4, 5, and 6 models, in the coming weeks.
