Air India has secured the fourth position in the global rankings of the world’s most punctual airlines, according to Cirium’s On-Time Performance Report for June 2026. The Tata Group-owned carrier is the only Indian airline to feature in the global top 10, highlighting significant improvements in its operational performance.

What’s Behind Air India’s Improved Performance?
The airline attributed its improved punctuality to continued investments in operational efficiency, better flight network planning and stronger execution across domestic and international routes.
Measures introduced by Air India include streamlined aircraft turnaround procedures, real-time flight monitoring, faster operational decision-making and enhanced contingency planning to minimise disruptions caused by bad weather, airport congestion and airspace restrictions.
The achievement also comes as the airline continues its fleet modernisation programme under the Tata Group, with new Boeing 787-9 aircraft joining its fleet and additional upgrades planned through 2026.
What It Means For Passengers
Improved on-time performance means fewer flight delays, smoother connections and a more reliable travel experience for passengers. For both business and leisure travellers, punctuality remains one of the most important factors when choosing an airline.
Air India’s strong global ranking also reflects the broader progress of India’s aviation industry as it continues expanding domestic and international operations while aiming to become a major global aviation hub.
