Tehran Seeks Sanctions Relief Guarantees Against Future Strikes

May 3, 2026: Iran has proposed a 14-point peace plan to the United States through Pakistan, responding to Washington’s earlier proposal to end the conflict. According to reports, the plan calls for an end to military actions across the region, lifting of blockades, and withdrawal of foreign forces. It also includes a new framework for managing the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route.

The proposal outlines major demands from Tehran, including the removal of sanctions, release of frozen assets, and financial compensation for damages. Iranian officials have pushed for a comprehensive resolution within 30 days, contrasting with the US proposal for a two-month ceasefire. Kazem Gharibabadi said the next move lies with Washington, stressing that Iran is open to diplomacy but prepared for continued confrontation if needed.

Reacting to the proposal, Donald Trump said he would review the plan but expressed doubts about its acceptability, citing concerns over Iran’s past actions. Meanwhile, tensions remain high in the region, with continued violence reported in Lebanon despite a fragile ceasefire, underscoring the urgency of diplomatic efforts.
